Jasper Philipsen and the Power of Training in Paradise
How training in Tenerife became part of the road to triumphs like Milan–San Remo 2024.
In March 2024, Belgian cyclist Jasper Philipsen won the Milan–San Remo, one of the most prestigious classics in the world calendar. It was a historic edition: the fastest ever, where Philipsen showed his power in the final sprint against Michael Matthews and Tadej Pogačar.
But behind that victory there is more than speed. There are hours of effort, mountain kilometers, and months of training in a place that many professional cyclists consider their perfect refuge: Tenerife.
Tenerife, cycling’s natural laboratory
From the winding roads of the Teide National Park to the descents that reach the sea, Tenerife offers a unique setting. Its year-round mild climate and high-altitude routes have made the island one of the most important training centers in the world of cycling.
The same roads, different stories
At Bike Experience Tenerife we believe cycling is not just a sport: it’s a way to connect with nature, effort, and yourself. When you ride the Teide roads or the northern valleys on one of our e-bikes, you pedal the same tarmac where champions train. The difference is in the pace, not in the thrill.
