Teide with Snow: The Ultimate Winter Cycling Experience in Tenerife
If you visit Tenerife between December and March, there is an extra that makes this route truly special: the chance to see the Teide covered in snow. It doesn’t happen every day, but when it does, the experience is hard to beat.
Teide with snow: the ultimate winter cycling experience in Tenerife (and how to do it right)
In winter, Tenerife offers something unique: starting your ride from the coast in mild temperatures and finishing the day with views of the snow-covered Teide. When conditions align, it becomes one of those unforgettable days and one of the most spectacular road cycling routes you can ride.
If you’d like to see this ride in more detail, here is our Teide route:

When does it usually snow on Teide?
Snow is not guaranteed, but it is relatively common after winter storms, especially between January and February. From around 2,000–2,200 metres above sea level, the landscape can change completely.
After heavy snowfall, some roads may temporarily close for safety reasons, so proper route and schedule planning is essential.
Winter key: enjoy the ride without freezing
When Teide is covered in snow, the climb is often spectacular… and the descent can be very cold if you’re not prepared. That’s why we recommend:
-
Thermal jacket or a good windproof layer
-
Long gloves (essential)
-
Starting early to make the most of the best hours
-
Adapting the route to the actual conditions of the day
We make it easy: bike, route and logistics
