7 tips to get on your bike early

CYCLING TRAINING

Do you often have a hard time getting out of bed?

If you are the person that choses to rather push the snooze button and sleep on after the alarm has gone off, you might be interested in this article. Hereby we give you a series of tips that can help you getting up earlier and with more energy.

If you don´t train you won´t get better. In many cases getting up early can make the difference between reaching your full potential on the bike or stagnation. If you want to wake up like a champion, just follow the tips below.

1. Don´t delay your waking up.
Avoid reaching for the snooze button in each case. This only impairs our ability to get up when our alarm goes off. If you feel the necessity to snooze you can set an alarm for 90 minutes before you want to wake up, so you will be able to sleep one more full sleeping cycle. This way you will be more rested and alert when you wake up.

2. Hit the bed earlier.
An average adult needs 6 to 9 hours of sleep to be clear and energetic the next day. So if you´d like to wake up early you have to make sure to go to bed earlier in order to get enough sleep to be rested.

3. Try to wake up at the same time everyday.
Consistency is is key: if you normalize getting up early it will take less effort to start your training. If you make a habit out of waking early you might be able to wake up without an alarm in the long run.

4. Find a cycling partner.
If you ride together it will be easier to get up early and not delay the moment of waking, because there will be someone waiting for you. Besides that training with a partner is a great way to improve your performance.

5. Set yourself a goal.
If you have a goal for the medium to long term you know for what purpose you are training and thus have to wake up for. If you keep your aims in mind it will be easier and more pleasant to get out of bed early each morning.

6. Get everything that you need on your ride ready on the day before.
If you make sure to have everything well organised and prepared you will feel more comfortable to leave home early for your morning ride. Moreover, you won´t waste any precious time by wandering around the house half sleeping in search of your bibs and water bottle.

7. Enjoy your training ride.
It has been proven that when we enjoy what we are doing, even if this contains effort and sacrifice, it is easier for us to fullfil our tasks. For this reason it is better to think out your routes and plan ahead, so you can enjoy the moment to the fullest. Because it´s difficult to wake up early for something that you hate. When you are doing something that you are passionate and proud about it will be way easier.

We hope that this series of tips will make it easier for you to get on the bike early. Always remember that practice makes perfect, and that if you want to improve your fitness and technique only one thing really matters: training.
